At Advanced Eyecare Center, we're proud to offer cutting-edge eye care and vision care solutions for all our patients. If you have a refractive error that interferes with your everyday life, you deserve a chance to see clearly again, so we harness the latest technology to help you do just that. Our eye doctors work hard to keep your prescriptions precise and up-to-date, but for some patients, a more permanent solution is possible. Our optometrists in Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach want you to have access to safe and effective LASIK surgery, so we have partnered with talented local eye surgeons to cover all your pre- and post-op needs.
Here are the services we provide for patients interested in LASIK eye surgery:
Our eye doctors have an important goal: to improve your eyesight while protecting your eye health. If you rely on corrective contact lenses or eyeglasses, we understand why LASIK is an attractive option. This one-time surgery changes the amount and curvature of corneal tissue in your eye, correcting nearsightedness and farsightedness and often eliminating the need for corrective eyewear altogether. However, every refractive error cannot be corrected with LASIK, and some patients have additional health factors that would make surgery risky or ineffective.
Before we give you a referral to a LASIK surgeon, we must rule out these factors. Our LASIK consultations include comprehensive vision tests to determine the nature and severity of your refractive error, as well as an eye exam to assess the curvature of your eyes. Your eye doctor will also ask you questions about your lifestyle, health history, and anything else that could affect the results of LASIK. If we decide you're eligible for LASIK, congratulations! Onto the next step.
Our optometrists know how important LASIK is. Though we don't perform the actual procedure at Advanced Eyecare Center, we are invested in your long-term eye health, so we will take care of your pre-op and post-op needs. This starts with your LASIK referral. If your eye doctor decides that you're a good candidate for LASIK surgery, he or she will give you a referral to a respected LASIK surgeon in Redondo Beach or Manhattan Beach.
Next, your LASIK surgeon will perform another series of vision tests and exams to make sure your eyes are ready for surgery. If they're ready to proceed, they'll schedule an outpatient procedure, and send you home with instructions for pre-op eye care.
After your LASIK surgery, your results will depend on how well you recover. A day or two after LASIK, come back to Advanced Eyecare Center for your follow-up eye care appointments. Our optometrists will make sure you're recovering at the right pace, and help you protect your newly capable eyes in the months and years to come.
